The Victory Monument of Augustus at Nicopolis: The Tropaeum of the Sea Battle of Actium comprises the first two volumes of a three-volume presentation of the Augustus Victory Monument.

The monument was a magnificent edifice, erected by the Roman Emperpr Octavian Augustus, in commemoration of his victory in the naval battle of Actium on September 2, 31 BC, over the united forces of Mark Antony and Cleopatra, Queen of Egypt. The dramatic building, built on the hill where Augustus had set up his headquarters on the eve of the naval battle, marks a pivotal event in the history of the ancient world and combines the characteristics of a trophy and a place of worship.

The eight chapters of the first volume detail the history of events that took place in this area in 31 BC, the construction of the Monument and the modern research that took place, culminating in the systematic archaeological excavations of the decades 1990–2010, as well as the architecture of the entire building. Chapter 8 presents in detail the Latin dedicatory inscription.

The second volume contains six chapters (Chapters 9–14), continuing the numbering of the first volume. In these are presented the many thousands of finds that were scattered across the entire area of the Μonument and recovered during the excavations. These include coins, pottery, planting pots (supplemented by the description of the sacred garden that adorned the Monument), glass finds, architectural terracottas and stamped roof tiles, and the inscriptions.
