Provides an overview of the use of computers to assist individuals who have disabilities. The book provides the reader with a comprehensive introduction to the possibilities and limitations inherent in the emerging field of Adaptive Technology.
Besides providing a general overview of how computers can augment the functions of individuals both physically and mentally, the book goes on to describe in detail currently available hardware and software systems. It features case studies of physically and developmentally challenged individuals using Adaptive Technology to assist them in their education, as well as in their daily lives.
Arlene Brett is an Associate Professor in the Department of Teaching and Learning, School of Education, University of Miami. She is the co-author with Eugene F. Provenzo, Jr. of The Complete Block Book, and The Complete Playground Book with Robin Moore and Eugene F. Provenzo, Jr. Eugene F. Provenzo, Jr. is a Professor in the Department of Teaching and Learning, School of Education, University of Miami. His most recent book is Video Kids: Making Sense of Nintendo.
