2026 Focus 400: Lifelong Learning for Psychiatrists in
Training and Practice contains 400 board-type multiple-choice
questions derived from material in the annual Focus examinations that can
help psychiatrists prepare for examinations and identify areas for further
study. These questions are consistent in form and process with the questions
used in high-stakes examinations. They cover important clinical areas of
psychiatric practice and closely follow the American Board of Psychiatry and
Neurology (ABPN) outline of topics for the recertification examination in
psychiatry.
2026 Focus 400 is designed to test current
knowledge and its clinical application. After each answer rationale, readers
will find the following sources: 1) the cross-referenced original Focus
Self-Assessment question and 2) corresponding reference(s) to journal
articles and books in which the learner can find more content. This workbook
will be useful for anyone committed to lifelong learning in the
field—practicing psychiatrists, psychiatric residents, and psychiatrists
preparing for examinations. Highlights include the following:
• 400
clinical questions that can be used to identify areas of strength and
weakness
• Up-to-date critiques and current references to facilitate
further study
• Themes of study to complement a larger overall program
of lifelong learning for the psychiatrist who wants to keep current in the
field.
