In his five volumes, the systematist Eberhard Jüngel (1934-2021) deals with the necessity of God and develops the outline of a natural theology. In addition, he reflects on the valueless truth of the gospel and works out its relevance for our time by focusing on the identity and the claim to truth of the Christian faith. He discusses central fundamental theological, anthropological, ecclesiological, and ethical issues, focusing on the indicatives of grace as the origin of freedom. In the final volume, Jüngel examines the extent to which human beings can only become whole through the sacramental power of the gospel.
