This chapter reviews how food waste can be reused and recycled. It begins by providing a definition of ‘reuse’ and ‘recycling’ in terms of food waste and gives examples of ways of dealing with food waste, for example, disposal through landfill or incineration or recycling back into food production as animal feed or compost for crops. The chapter then provides sections on how reuse and recycling can be used to process vegetable, livestock and marine waste. It concludes by drawing together all the research provided in the chapter and highlights potential areas for future research. It also provides researchers with sources for further information.
