An intergenerational dialogue between established and emerging voices that articulates the relevance of contemporary Italian women's thought across a spectrum of today's crucial questions and issues.
This volume offers a critical map of the philosophical positions of contemporary Italian women thinkers, scholars, and activists, emphasizing connections, intergenerational relations, and lines of development and change. Through dynamic and effective conversations between established thinkers and emerging scholars, Resounding Voices provides an up-to-date critical assessment of key developments in Italian women's philosophy. Approaches range widely, from historiographic, narrative, and descriptive to more theoretical. Urgent themes for our times run throughout, including notions of power, violence, and vulnerability; issues of subjectivity, sexual identity, and sexual difference; topics of materiality, embodied existence, and a politics of care; concerns for the world, communities, the environment, and how to effectively bring about positive change. In this way, the book partakes in a timely project of rediscovery of women's voices and philosophical contributions, helping transmit a philosophical legacy that would otherwise remain hidden or insufficiently recognized to an international audience.
"Resounding Voices offers an original contribution to the field of feminist studies and Italian philosophy, making visible the work of women philosophers whose influence has become increasingly important today. This volume's main strength is to organize these philosophical contributions in a landscape that is thematically and chronologically ordered, thus offering a new map of philosophical orientation rooted in problems of subjectivation, materiality, and world-making." — Delia Popa, Villanova University
