Slurry is a significant by-product of livestock agriculture. It can be a valuable source of nutrients if managed efficiently. Ensuring that slurry is used as an effective resource is also essential to avoiding pollution of land, water and air and to creating a more sustainable circular bioeconomy. However, despite the existence of many decision support tools and other advice, many livestock farmers do not engage with them or manage slurries and manures effectively. This chapter describes the SLURRY-Max Project in the UK which addressed these issues.
