English summary: Despite the numerous publications concerning the basic economic principles of the European integration process, studies on individual institutional and material questions are still rare. Against this backdrop, the 12th Travemunde Symposium was dedicated to the analysis of some key questions of European integration. The convention thus aimed at giving new impetus to the development of this field of research. On the one hand, a number of contributions deal with fundamental questions, such as the sphere of competencies assigned to the European Court of Justice and the controversial discussions on some of its judgments. On the other hand, current questions concerning the financial crisis and its consequences for European integration are a main focus of this volume. A law and economics approach on how to treat insolvency of member states and the monitoring of state aid by the European Commission are exemplary subjects in this regard.


German description: Trotz vielfaltiger Publikationen, die sich mit den okonomischen Grundlagen der Europaischen Integration insgesamt beschaftigen, ist die Zahl okonomischer Studien zu institutionellen oder materiellen Einzelfragen immer noch vergleichsweise begrenzt. Die Veranstalter der XII. Travemunder Tagung zur okonomischen Analyse des Rechts haben sich daher vorgenommen, einige zentrale Fragen aufzugreifen, um Impulse fur eine Verbreiterung und Vertiefung des Forschungsfeldes zu geben. Die Beitrage behandeln zum einen grundlegende Fragen, wie beispielsweise die Spielraume und Restriktionen sowie einige kontrovers diskutierte Urteile des Europaischen Gerichtshofs. Zum anderem werden insbesondere aktuelle Fragen im Kontext der Finanzkrise, wie beispielsweise die Beihilfenkontrolle der Europaischen Kommission oder Uberlegungen zur angemessenen Bewaltigung einer Insolvenz von Staaten aus rechtsokonomischer Sicht analysiert.
