Plant growth-promoting bacteria (PGPB) can improve plant development by enhancing nutrient availability and uptake, thereby reducing reliance on synthetic fertilizers. Despite their potential, use of PGPB is still limited, particularly due to inconsistent performance under field conditions. This chapter explores the principal benefits of plants associated with PGPB and the key factors determining the success of PGPB-based biostimulants, including environmental conditions and root colonization efficiency. It critically synthesizes existing literature, identifies key knowledge gaps, technical bottlenecks, and highlights emerging solutions. Emphasis is placed on strain selection, advanced formulation technologies, and integration into sustainable farming systems, essential for field-ready PGPB-based biostimulants.
