This book aims to critically discuss in detail, the fabrication of custom-made scaffolds and
all the biological, and physico-chemical aspects related with their adhesion, propagation,
proliferation and cell colonization processes, through in vitro assays and in vivo
implantation trials. This is to certify their therapeutic efficacy and potential use in clinical
applications. The authors are committed to providing appropriate information related to
the latest state-of-the-art in biomaterials technology, which is of paramount importance
for researchers and students in this area, which range from chemists, physicists, material
scientists and medical students. An attempt will be made to provide a sound balance
between materials science and their clinical health implications, thanks to the know-how
of the two main authors, which combines an experimental physicist expert in materials
science with a medical doctor (traumatologist) with more than 30 years of experience in
the field of biomaterials for clinical applications in regenerative medicine. With the
knowledge shared in the book, readers can make future choices as to which type of
materials will fit the most appropriately for their specific application
