Atopic dermatitis is the most common form of eczema, a condition that causes the skin to become itchy, red, dry and cracked. Atopic eczema is more common in children, often developing before their first birthday. However, it may also develop for the first time in adults. It is usually a long-term (chronic) condition, although it can improve significantly, or even clear completely, in some children as they get older (NHS Choices).

This book is a concise guide to atopic dermatitis for clinicians and trainees.

Divided into five sections, the text begins with an overview of the history and epidemiology, and aetiology and pathogenesis of the disorder.

The following chapters cover clinical signs, differential diagnosis, and treatment options.

The book features photographs to assist with recognition of symptoms, as well as tables and treatment algorithms.

References for further reading are included at the end of each chapter.
