Formerly known as Non Alcoholic Fatty Liver Disease, Metabolic Dysfunction-associated Steatotic Liver Disease (MASLD) is a long-lasting liver condition caused by having too much fat in the liver. It is closely linked with being overweight, as well as conditions such a Type 2 diabetes and heart and circulatory disease.
Designed for everyday clinical use, this evidence-based guide covers the full spectrum of MASLD, from its historical evolution and pathophysiology, to diagnosis, treatment, and long-term management.
It integrates the latest guidelines and therapies, including emerging agents such as resmetirom and GLP-1 agonists, and provides practical tools such as non-invasive diagnostics (FIB-4, elastography, MRI-PDFF), risk stratification algorithms, and detailed approaches for special populations including children, pregnant women, and those with cirrhosis or hepatocellular carcinoma.
Emphasising a multidisciplinary and personalised care model, the book also explores public health strategies, cost-effective screening, and healthcare implications.
