This volume brings together essays on Axel Hutter's book Narrative Ontology (2017). The authors engage in conversation with the different chapters of the book. In this way, a central idea of the book is further pursued and realized: to position oneself in an original way within the traditions where the self-knowledge of humanity can be achieved, which has always formed the core of philosophy. Such traditions include history and narratives. What the volume thus aims to highlight, following Axel Hutter's book with systematic intent, is what can be called the "spirit of history".
