"We have good singers and some lively songs in Nulato. I remember in my Grandma Mary, Grandpa Charlie and my other Grandpa Jack Patsy's days, people used to sing till maybe two o'clock every night during Stickdance week. The kids in my age used to talk against my Grandpa and Grandma. Call them names. They were against singers because they wanted to modern dance. Waltz, foxtrot, one-step, square dance, things like that. They wanted violin and guitar. Then that twist came along.
A few years ago it turned around. Now the teenagers and even younger want the Indian singing. . . . Everybody wants Indian singing. I'm happy to see it. I enjoy it too."
