"An excellent collection of material which illustrates the great man's politics in this time of crisis." (British Bulletin of Publications, No. 98, April 1998) "Dr Roberts should be commended for the publication of this slim and significant volume." (Bulletin of Hispanic Studies, Vol. LXXV, No. 3, July 1998) "This is a valuable work which adds to our understanding of an often neglected aspect of Unamino. It will prove useful to students and scholars who are perhaps more familiar with his literary works." (Bulletin of Hispanic Studies, Vol. LXXIV, No. 3, July 1997)

Miguel de Unamuno (1864-1936) is perhaps the best known and certainly the most controversial figure in twentieth-century Spanish letters. His polemical political interventions earned him exile from Spain and have continued to arouse debate to the present day.
