Modern economically-oriented organization and management theory is based on the new institutional economics. In this work, Matthias Krakel attempts to explain the existence of firms from the viewpoint of the new institutional economics. In addition, he discusses the main organizational and management problems of the modern corporation and offers possible solutions for these. He also considers the particular advantages and disadvantages of professional partnerships, cooperatives and franchising.
