Alexander K. Schmidt untersucht die Ursprunge und Ziele dieses grundlegenden Systemwechsels. Gestutzt auf gedruckte wie unveroffentlichte Quellen zeigt er die Entwicklung des Reformprojekts vom Kaiserreich uber die Weimarer Republik bis zum Nationalsozialismus und entwirft ein Bild, das uber alle politischen und gesellschaftlichen Umbruche hinweg von erstaunlicher Kontinuitat gepragt ist.
