English summary: POLITIKA's ninth volume is a first for the series. After eight anthologies, each of which included at least a dozen contributions, this is the first single authored volume. Hans Buchheim, originally trained as a classical scholar, is one of the few contemporary thinkers capable of spanning the history of ideas from the Greek politeia and the Roman res publica to the constitutional republic, while also being able to connect the practical philosophy of Aristotle, Hegel and Searle and the demands of current political theory. In his Theorie der Politik (theory of politics) published in 1981, Buchheim made the assumption that a general theory of situational thinking provided a basis for all political organizations, regardless of their ethical qualities. Even then, however, he pointed out that a second, complementary theory was required for the republican state of the modern era, as it is based on the individual's elementary demand for peace, freedom and egalitarianism. For a republican or - synonymously - a free state order demands the fulfillment of these requirements in the context of coexistence within society as a whole.
