Cytology is the examination of cells from bodily tissue or fluids in order to determine a diagnosis. It is mainly used to screen for cancer.

This handbook is a concise, practical guide to cervical cytology, interpretation of results, and diagnosis of disease.

Beginning with an overview of anatomy and normal cytology, the next chapter discusses sample collection, liquid-based cytology, and automated screening. A complete chapter is then dedicated to the Bethesda system of reporting cervical cytology.

Each of the following sections presents salient diagnostic features of different cervical lesions, and provides detailed discussion on differential diagnosis and management. The book concludes with a selection of sample cases.

This second edition has been fully revised and updated to provide clinicians with the latest findings and developments in the field.

Many microphotographs are included to assist recognition of different lesions.

Previous edition (9789352702657) published in 2018.
